| This website consists of photos of the recently (2003-2004) upgraded A13 dual carriageway in East London, along with its logical extensions, the older A1261 Aspen Way and A1203 Limehouse Link in the Docklands area, both dating from 1993. Also included are some pictures of the 1998/1999 new- build section by-passing Dagenham and Rainham, and the much older A13 dual section out into Essex, dating from the 1970s/1980s. For the sake of completeness I have also included the (mostly) single carriageway sections through London's East End, as well as the non-primary sections through Benfleet, Southend and Shoeburyness in Essex. |

Movers Lane underpass looking east from footbridge to the west of the junction. This D3 effort first opened in March 2003, albeit with only 1 lane each way, but was fully operational by the following August. It replaced a rickety S2 flyover above a roundabout. Movers Lane heads north to Barking, while River Road heads towards the housing and industrial estates at Creekmouth, on the Thames. | A13 d) Barking | (3240) |

| 5th Jan 2005 | A1203 Limehouse Link
The A1203 Limehouse Link tunnel, opened in 1993. Acts as a fast connection between the City and Docklands. One of the most expensive road projects in the UK on a per mile basis. Approximate route mileage 1.2 miles.

| 13th Nov 2004 | A1261 Aspen Way/East India Dock Link
Aspen Way was opened in 1993 as a dual link between the Limehouse tunnel and Leamouth, almost right on the Thames. In 1995, a half-hearted attempt was made to link the road to the A13 just to the north, but the East India Dock Link wasn't fully implemented until late 2003! Approximate route mileage in this section: 1.3 miles.

| 12th Nov 2004 | A13 e) Dagenham to Aveley
A13 new 1998/1999-built D3 section by-passing Dagenham, Rainham, Wennington and Aveley. The section from Wennington to Aveley (M25 junction 30) opened in October 1998, the section from Marsh Way to Wennington in December 1998, with the final section between Goresbrook and Marsh Way opening in December 1999. The M25 flyover was unfortunately built as D2 in the early 1980s, being left as an incomplete stub for 16 years! Approximate route mileage in this section: 7 miles.

| 27th Feb 2005 | A13 f) M25 to Sadlers Hall Farm
These are shots of the much older A13 dual carriageway east of the M25, up to Sadler's Hall farm magic roundabout, marking the end of the A13 dual, grade-separated section. The M25 flyover was built as an incomplete stub as early as 1982, when the motorway first arrived in these parts, but wasn't put into use until the first part of the Dagenham to Aveley section was completed in 1998. Approximate route mileage in this section: 14 miles.
