A13 e) Dagenham to Aveley

A13 new 1998/1999-built D3 section by-passing Dagenham, Rainham, Wennington and Aveley. The section from Wennington to Aveley (M25 junction 30) opened in October 1998, the section from Marsh Way to Wennington in December 1998, with the final section between Goresbrook and Marsh Way opening in December 1999. The M25 flyover was unfortunately built as D2 in the early 1980s, being left as an incomplete stub for 16 years! Approximate route mileage in this section: 7 miles.
NOTE: this section is spread across TWO pages! Click "next" at the top of the first page to see the remaining photos.

Next gantry sign on eastbound approach to the Goresbrook interchange, also showing part-time traffic lights just to the west of the sign. These are I believe for a weigh-bridge, but only seen them switched on a very few occassions. So theoretically at least, these lights, when turned on, are the only interruption eastbound traffic has to face between Canary Wharf and Sadler's Hall Farm in Essex.

A green space? In industrial Dagenham? Actually, there was a big sign saying "No public access", so I didn't stray too far into here. I assume it's meant for Ford's employees. The raised parapet visible between the two gantries marks the A13 passing over Kent Avenue, an access to Ford's but not for public use.
