Prohibitions sign for the Limehouse Link along Butcher Row.

Just south of the prohibitions sign is the approach sign for the Limehouse Link/Highway junction. Note warning lights and shutters for when the tunnel undergoes routine maintenance. Also note both stretches of A1203 are shown as Primary Route - although all maps I've seen do not, they are part of the Greater London roads network, along with Aspen Way, and therefore have the same legal status as the former A102(M), M41 and A40(M) sections.

Looking east towards the Limehouse Link western portal. It may not seem obvious here, especially given the tunnel's 30mph speed limit, but between here and Sadlers Hall Farm near Basildon, there are 30 miles of almost fully grade-separated dual carriagway.

This is the westbound on-slip onto the tunnel from the A1206 at Westferry, just to the west of the eastern portal shown in later pictures in this section pictures. the merge with the A1203 mainline is therefore underground!

A1261 totso viewed from the eastbound carriageway just before the merge. The A1261 Aspen Way, Totsos, has a flat junction with the A1206 Westferry Road, then re-joins the A13 just to the west. In other words, Aspen Way seamlessly becomes the Limehouse Link, though there is a lane-drop from D3.

The merge viewed from the eastbound carriageway. I could have zoomed in a bit more, but you can just see the name-plates for Aspen Way (left) and Limehouse Link (right) on the central reservation. The mainline is now the A1261.

The A1261 Totso's here westbound to provide yet another access to Canary Wharf, then merges with the A1206 and finally rejoins the A13, but there are several sets of lights. To avoid these, continue straight on via the A1203 Limehouse Link tunnel. Opened in 1993, it's 1.8km, D2, and ends up at Limehouse and onto The Highway, which provides a reasonably fast S4 route westward to Tower Bridge.
