A similar shot is shown in the Dagenham/Aveley section, but here is a view from Ship Lane towards the eastbound approach to J30. This stretch forms the eastern-most part of the 1998-built section. The flyover however dates from 1982, when its western end was left as an incomplete stub. 1280x960 1M2500.JPG.jpg |
Western span of the A13 flyover (a three-span construction: western half of J30 roundabout, then M25/A282 main-line, then eastern half of roundabout), viewed from Stifford Road, just east of Aveley, looking south. 1280x960 1M2500a.JPG.jpg |
The A13 flyover is D2, but gains a lane east of the junction. Here is visible a sign denoting the lane gain, just prior to the start of the cntral span of the flyover. 1280x960 1M2500b.JPG.jpg |

Looking south towards J30 from the B1335 Stifford Road. Note the end of M-way signs. It appears that it is the A282 and not the M25 that passes under the A13! 1280x960 1M2500d.JPG.jpg |
Zoom-in of previous, showing the A13 flyover. A three-span construction, its western end was left incomplete for 16 years after construction in 1982. 1280x960 1M2500d1.JPG.jpg |

Looking over the clockwise off-slip, showing the unusual sight of blue signs with patches on them! Lakeside and Purfleet have to be accessed from here, since J31 has no exit from the clockwise. Feeder roads provide movements for traffic heading between the A13 and J31 clockwise, and J31 to the A13 anti-clockwise. But there are slips linking J31 directly with the mainline of the A282/M25 (and vice versa) immediately north of J31. The eastern span of the A13 flyover is visible on the left. 1280x960 1M2500e.JPG.jpg |

The D2 flyover at the M25 junction (J30). west of here there is a lane-drop from D3, east of here a brief lane-gain, then a drop for the A126 Lakeside Thurrock exit, then it widens back out to D3 after some hatching. This interchange was open in 1982, with the flyover as an incomplete stub. Therefore it was out of use for seventeen years until the new section west to Dagenham was built! Traffic heading west had to turn off here and head down to J31 to pick up what is now the A1306, and vice versa. 1280x960 1M2501.JPG.jpg |
This is a view from Ship Lane, west of the M25/A282 looking east, showing the motorway going beneath the level of the distributor roads between J30 and J31. The motorway forms the lowest level of the three-level stack J30. 1280x960 1M2501a.JPG |

Sign for J31 on the A1306 (old A13) Arterial Road, on the way out of the Lakeside area. The brief section between J31 and the B186 roundabout behind me was dualled at the start of the 1990s, when Lakeside shopping centre opened. This section was the A13 prior to the building of the dual A13 east of J30 in the early 1980s. 1280x960 1M2503c.JPG |

The bridge carrying the A126 over the A13. The A126 is the access to Lakeside shopping centre, continuing southwards into Thurrock and Grays. However there is no access eastbound onto the A13 and there is no exit westbound from the A13. The A13 here is D2, then gains a lane just east of this junction. 1280x960 2Lake01.JPG.jpg |
Looking north from the A1306 over the A126 just south of the A13 junction. Note the sign showing all traffic directed onto the westbound A13 ahead. the people in donkey jackets are apparently a Thurrock Council litter patrol! 1280x960 2Lake01a.JPG.jpg |

Sorry for the super-blurro-vision, but here's a shot looking west towards the A126 bridge from a train travelling north between Chafford Hundred (for Lakeside) and London. Note that the A13 is D2 here. 1280x960 2Lake02.JPG.jpg |

Just to the east of the A126 junction is the B186 bridge over the A13. This is a shot looking west, towards the rail bridge (blue) and immediately behind that the A126 bridge. Note that the hatching swaps from lane 3 to lane 1 by the time the A13 hits the rail bridge. 1280x960 2Lake04.JPG.jpg |

East of the B186 is a footbridge linking the village of North Stifford with the Grays/Thurrock area. Here is a westward view over the D3 A13, showing arrows in lane 3 and signs denoting the lane drop. 1280x960 3Lake07.JPG.jpg |

The next junction is the A1089 trumpet junction. The A1089 heads south towards Tilbury Docks, D2 for much of its length. The A13 ceases to be a formal trunk road here, the A1089 taking over the baton down to the docks. This is almost certainly why "Tilbury" is not in brackets on signs between here and London! In the distance is visible the A1013 Stanford Road (old A13) as it crosses the A1089. 1280x960 4A108901.JPG.jpg |

The A13 between the M25 and the A128, as well as the A1089 were opened in 1982 as the "Grays Bypass", though the name is not commonly used today. Despite losing Trunk status east of here, the A13 is D3 throughout, up to the A128. 1280x960 4A108902.JPG |

Approach sign for Orsett Cock on the A1013 (old A13) heading west. The A1013 towards Grays has been incorrectly labelled "A1012". The real A1012 is in fact further west. The tree obscures "Chadwell St. Mary", through which the A128 used to go on its way to Tilbury. Much of this section was declassified, except the southernmost stretch, transferred to the A126. 1280x960 5Orse07.JPG.jpg |
